The term "simple elegance" perfectly describes this Queen Anne style Bed and Breakfast nestled in Portland's historic West End. Built in 1891 with a 3-story turret, The Chadwick features the original working fireplaces with tile hearths and beautifully restored floors and woodwork. Guests can stroll along nearby Western Promenade and view some of the oldest Victorian period homes in the city.

It's a short walk to the City's Arts District, home to numerous galleries, theaters, and the popular Portland Museum of Art. Also within walking distance is the City's lively Old Port, overflowing with fine shops and excellent restaurants.

Unwind in our spacious living room where you will discover one of the inn's original working fireplaces, a small library, a selection of videos, and the modern conveniences of television and stereo. In European tradition, late afternoon tea and sweets are served--a welcome opportunity to pause during the day's activities.

Breakfast is always special at the Chadwick. Sample our homemade granola as you wake up with morning juice and coffee. Early risers can whet their appetites with a homemade scone but should save room for the entree of the day such as cinnamon waffles dripping with pure maple syrup, a hearty fritatta, quiche du jour, or a special seasonal delight. Breakfast is served fireside in the formal dining room but if you prefer a more casual setting, breakfast can be taken into the living room turret, the garden, or to your room.
